Superspikes for Cello
The cover on the cello version is retained captive on the stainless steel rod. It can be screwed down to make the sharp point safe, or screwed back to expose the point for playing. The other end of the rod (not in view in the photograph) contains the spare point.

Superspikes for Bass
The cover for the bass spike is removable and the photo shows the owner's personal marking (maximum 7 letters) stamped onto the polished face of the cover. The personal marking is helpful if your cover should be mislaid, or in situations where several or all the players in a section have superspikes. The spare point is held in the reverse end of the spike, up inside the instrument.
